Big-data system and other key CRMGG products for digital transformation handed over to NAWAPI experts

Hanoi, 18-22 May 2026 – A comprehensive training course for over 30 scientists and experts from NAWAPI and its institutes, divisions and sub-centers was held at NAWAPI headquarters with support from the CRMGG IT team, led by BGR IT expert Erich Muhire.

The week-long session aimed to ensure the systematic transfer of the digital products developed under CRMGG, with primary focus on the practical use of the Big Data platform and the integration of IoT-based monitoring data into NAWAPI’s digital infrastructure.

The course was based on an end-to-end digital data management perspective, covering the complete workflow from data sources, data acquisition, integration, storage, processing, analysis, visualization, and operational use to evidence-based decision support. It followed an applied, practice-oriented approach, taking into account the mixed technical and professional background of the participants. The training combined conceptual explanation, technical demonstration, guided exercises, hands-on system operation and a field visit to an IoT monitoring station near Hanoi.

Through the training course, participants gained insights into a multitude of aspects, including to:

  • Understand the overall architecture, technical functions, and application potential of the transferred digital products;
  • Understand the operational principles, data structures, and integration mechanisms of the Big Data platform;
  • Apply the Big Data platform for data ingestion, management, analysis, visualization, and professional data utilization;
  • Operate, configure, and apply the IoT system for automated data collection and transmission;
  • Understand how IoT-generated monitoring data can be integrated into the centralized Big Data platform;
  • Perform basic system administration, operational monitoring, and troubleshooting of common technical issues.

The course also served to Identify opportunities for system expansion, technical upgrading and further development of NAWAPI’s digital infrastructure to strengthen evidence-based decision making for water resources investigation, planning and management.
