Training for operation and maintenance of automatic monitoring equipment at Groundwater monitoring stations in Bac Lieu

Within the framework of cooperation between Bac Lieu’s Department of natural resources and Environment (DONRE) and the Climate-resilient Management of Groundwater and Geohazards (CRMGG) Project, on Jun 21st and 22nd, 2023 the CMRGG project conducted training, and coaching on operation and maintenance of automatic groundwater monitoring equipment at Ganh Hao and Ninh Thanh Loi monitoring stations belong to Dong Hai and Hong Dan Districts respectively. The objective of the training session was to strengthen the capacity of Bac Lieu DONRE staff as well as ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the technical support package sponsored by the IGPVN/CRMGG project in the groundwater resources’ surveillance and monitoring. The training content focused on developing practical skills in monitoring equipment’s maintenance and operation in the field such as assembling/mounting, connecting and checking the operating status of equipment; configuring settings for automatic groundwater level gauges (DipperPT) and data transmitters (Slimcom4G); accessing data via cable connection or 4G internet/mobile data and check; configuring online access parameters and change settings for Dipper-PT and Slimcom 4G via the internet; Calibrating the accuracy of the device based on the actual groundwater measurement on-site. In addition, the participants in the training were also qualified to handle issues related to data transmission and access to online monitoring equipment.

The training session took place successfully with the participation of 04 officials from different units of Bac Lieu DONRE including the Center for Natural Resources and Environment Monitoring, the Department of Water Resources-Climate Change and Sea, and the District Department of Natural Resources and Environment.
