First water sampling round at MAR pilot Vi Thanh

On Oct 17, 2023, Dr. Anke Steinel and Dr. Hoang Thi Hanh (CRMGG) and staff from QUATEST3 conducted the first water sampling round at the NAWAPI Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) pilot at the HAWASUCO site in Vi Thanh. Samples were taken from three backup production wells from Hawasuco, the two newly installed MAR pilot wells from NAWAPI, one DONRE observation well, the newly installed water treatment system of NAWAPI and from the raw water intake. Samples will be analysed by Quatest for a broad range of parameters including anions, cations, trace elements, nutrients, organic carbon, microbiological contaminants and pesticides. NAWAPI also collected samples for analysis.

These results form the baseline to be able to assess changes occurring in the groundwater during the MAR infiltration and recovery experiments.
