MKDC chose NAWAPI as showcase for water resources data
In September 2024, NAWAPI and the Mekong Delta Centre (MKDC) (https://mkdc.vn) initiated cooperation to share data as a showcase for the water resources sector. MKDC serves as a central data hub for Delta-wide information, covering various themes such as water, land use, environment and climate change, as well as education and outreach. It is funded by the World Bank under the “Mekong Delta Integrated Climate Resilience and Sustainable Livelihoods” Project.
Since then, the digital transformation team of NAWAPI and CRMGG has been busy with discussing and preparing with their MKDC counterparts the connection to NAWAPI’s big data system and the link to the data warehouse. The initial focus is on three types of NAWAPI product: (1) water resources monitoring data, (2) warning and forecast bulletins, (3) water resources planning maps. The MKDC portal is due to be launched by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) in a workshop with the Mekong Delta provinces towards the end of November.
